  • FireWalls??

How do I change The firewall?? I don't know where to do this????FireWalls??software - go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Windows Firewall.

hardware - go to your router (there will be an ip address in the instruction book....download it from the manufactor's website if you don't have it) and there it is.FireWalls??In order to give you the instructions to change the firewall, we need to know what firewall you are using.FireWalls??do you have one first?FireWalls??let you go on control pannel, then choose sercurity center, next choose windows firewall that you can change firewall %26quot;on%26quot; or %26quot;off%26quot;.

this is used for window XP sp2.FireWalls??Try formatting your machine and installing a proper OS like Slackware Linux. You wont have problems with meaningless bugs.

I just used a windows xp cd to format and delete my linux partition but now i can't connect to internet?

i have a internet router in my house and i can't connect to it for some reason. normally there would be something on the bottomn right toolbar that is for internet connections but its not there, how can i connect to the internet???i went under network and indernet connections and they only have

set up or change your internet connection

create a connection to the network at your workplace

set up or change your home or small office network

set up a wireless network for a home or small office

    change windows firewall settings

and none of them let me connect to a internet connectionI just used a windows xp cd to format and delete my linux partition but now i can't connect to internet? You need to install the LAN driver for your LAN connector on the motherboard. Probably also, your sound driver and chipset drivers as well. Download and install from the manufacturer.

    Whats really going on??????help!?

i opened my email and there arent any folders, emails,or txt. unless i click on , mind u im guessing where an email might be, then ill see the txt and of course it opens up because i clicked on it, only to see who its from appariently all my personal info, in any account of mine has had the text color changed to white and i cant see it cuz the background page is white, so how did this happen and how can i undo it, i have suspicision of a second computered being allowed to use my wireless router and info so it can connect to the internet via my info. ive tried to change my firewall settings and it says due to an unidentifiable error u cannot change these settings. im the owner of all, and this just upsets me to no good please if u can help me, i tried to ask the one person who might of given out any of my information to another but denile is all i get.Whats really going on??????help!?From your description... you could either have a really simple configuration issue going on (such as you fat-fingered your text color) to a more serious issue that may or may not be malware related.

I would strongly suggest you stop clicking, turn off the computer, and take it to a shop or a reliable and qualifed technician in your area who can properly diagnose the problem before you really do some damage.

If you are able to see everything else OK on your computer.. then I would strongly suggest you make sure that you have a security product installed from a reliable vendor (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc... from a top vendor like mcafee) that is properly configured and completely up to date... make sure you force an update and run a complete scan with all programs closed (especially your browser). If you are using freeware as your security or no security or out of date security... then unfortunately the chances of this being malware related jump to the top of the list and since many cannot simply be eradicated by installing proper security... you may be SOL... so take it to someone who can properly assess the situation before you take some bad advice or continue to click on things that could harm you even more.

VISTA Home Premium Connection Status: Unknown The Dependency Service or Group Failed To Start?

My girlfriend's Toshiba laptop has WIndows Vista Home Premium.

She turned it on yesterday and a driver install thing randomly popped up.

She didn't know what it was and neither did I so she hit NO when it said to install.

After that she was no longer able to connect to the internet.

When you hover over the wireless icon it says %26quot;Connection status: unknown The Dependency service or group failed to start.

I have tried numerous fixes and none have worked.

Under the NETWORK ADAPTERS in the device manager all have the triangle/exclamation mark.

When I right click and hit properties it says %26quot;This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31).

When I go to Computer Management and Services I right click DCHP client and it says

    %26quot;Windows could not start the DHCP Client service on Local Computer%26quot;

Error 1079 the account specified for this service is different form the account specified for the other services running in the same process.

When I try to start Network Location Awareness.

It says Windows could not sart the Network Location Awareness on Local Computer.

    Specific error code 1073741288.

I've tried the %26quot;netsh winsock reset catalog%26quot; fix in command prompt run as administrator and reset.

This still did not fix the problem.

I thought it might be a firewall problem however when I try to change any firewall settings it says that Windows Cannot Start Firewall Service.

She is the administrator on the laptop.

We don't have the disk the laptop came with and might not for a week or so.

Does ANYONE know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for trying.VISTA Home Premium Connection Status: Unknown The Dependency Service or Group Failed To Start? If you can檛 find the right Windows vista drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. VISTA Home Premium Connection Status: Unknown The Dependency Service or Group Failed To Start?in device manager, remove your network adapter. When you restart windows, windows will detect the network card and reinstall with the driver that was working. That should take care of problem. You may wanna run registry scan when done. Sounds like reg error caused this.

Cannot connect to internet wireless-Windows XP Pro?

I just installed Windows XP Pro over Linux on my daughter's laptop. I deleted Ubuntu in the partition and everything went well...

Until I tried to find a wireless connection. I went to:

    Start

    Control Panel

    Network and Internet Connections

    Network Connections

HELP suggests looking for View Available wireless networks under Network Tasks

    There isn't a wireless option!

    I have these options:

    Create a new connection

set up a home or small office network

    change windows firewall settings

The only icon showing is 1394 Connection Connected Firewall

I turned off my firewall and still can't get it up and running. I cannot find anywhere to view wireless networks.

I have numerous items connected to our wireless. Any suggestions on how to get this up and running???Cannot connect to internet wireless-Windows XP Pro?You're going to need to install the drivers for your wireless card, and for all devices connected to your computer.
