How do I change proxy/firewall settings to allow Microsoft updates? What is a proxy?
I know I sound daft, but I just switched Windows security centre back on, after trailing through YA to see how, and I tried to update the services by clicking on the link provided.
Recieved an error stating 0x80072ee2 or 0x80072efd.
Microsoft resolution states :
1. A misconfigured Proxy/Firewall can cause this prob. Check the proxy/firewall settings, and add the following urls to the exception list within your firewall/proxy:
http://*.update.microsoft.com
there are also two others to add.
How do i do this?

If you computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can be run in Safe Mode should you prefer. To get into Safe Mode either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

- Run
- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the %26quot; / %26quot;)
What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

If you computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can be run in Safe Mode should you prefer. To get into Safe Mode either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:
- Start
- Run
- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the %26quot; / %26quot;)
What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.
If you have the Vista operating system, the steps are a bit different due to the UAC. See the link below.

Question About DVD Drive region code change limit?
You know how on most computers these days once you change the region code settings a certain amount of times the change becomes permanant and cant be changed. Well i stupidly changed mine to US region 1, when i should stayed on 4. I read that it says it cant be change back even if the hard drive is put into another computer. Restart your computer.

But there should be a list that shows all the programs and permissions for those programs.
