You can do this in the security section in system preferences.
But you need to also visit your router's settings webpage and setup port forwarding for your computer, specifically your program.
This might not work, as some ISPs will block a bunch of ports. You should still be able to receive connections on your bittorrent client even without port forwarding. You just need to randomize the port until you come across one where you start getting connections.
